Film Submission
Once we have received your submission, it will be reviewed by a pre-selection jury. The film's contact person will be notified as soon as the jury has reached a decision. Film submission is free of charge.
Festival dates: November 10 – November 15, 2026
The deadline for submitting films is June 25th.
Fields marked with an asterix (*) are obligatory.
Guidelines
• The film must be produced in 2025/2026.
• The film must be a documentary.
• A still image from the film must be submitted for the festival catalogue.
• Films that have previously been publicly screened in cinemas or on TV will only exceptionally be selected for Nordic/Docs.
Screening Format:
Nordic/Docs uses DCP as the only screening format. If the film is selected for the program, a DCP must be delivered well in advance, no later than two weeks before the festival starts (delivery details will be arranged later).
Films selected only for online screening and not included in the main program may be delivered as a ProRes file.
Still Images and Poster
Nordic/Docs uses still images and posters for marketing the film on the website, in print, and in Fredrikstad Kino's channels. To ensure quality and presentation, the following requirements apply:
Number and type of images
• Minimum 2 still images must be submitted – one horizontal and one vertical.
• A maximum of 6 still images may be uploaded.
Technical Specifications
• Accepted file formats: JPG, PNG, or TIFF.
• Horizontal images: recommended resolution 1920x1080px (16:9 format).
• Vertical images: recommended resolution 1080x1920px (9:16 format).
Note: If submitted images do not meet the size and resolution requirements, a standard image will be used in marketing on Fredrikstad Kino's platforms. (Festival venue is “Fredrikstad kino”)
Screenings Outside the Main Festival Dates
Nordic/Docs offers screenings for youth and school students during the festival days, as well as special screenings in the weeks before and after the festival.
Screening Fees and Expenses
Nordic/Docs does not normally pay screening fees. Travel expenses may, by agreement, be sponsored for the filmmaker or one representative from the production company attending the screening. Other members of the film's production team receive free festival passes
